Brighton works well for a stag do because it is compact, walkable, lively and easy to reach by train. You can go from an activity to a pub, dinner and a club without needing taxis all evening, and there is enough variety to suit different budgets and group sizes.

Every stag do booking site will try to sell you a package. This guide takes a different approach. It focuses on the places and activities that are actually worth considering, rather than just the ones bundled into commission-based packages.

Why Brighton works for a stag do

Friends enjoying a Brighton stag do

Everything is close together. You can go from an activity to a pub to dinner to a club without overcomplicating the day.

The city is used to stag and hen groups, although smaller venues may still prefer advance notice. The seafront gives you space to reset between activities, and the nightlife runs late enough to make the evening count.

Brighton also has more variety than a basic stag weekend formula. You are not limited to go karting and a chain pub, although you can still do both if that is what the group wants.

Daytime activities

Go karting

QLeisure is about 20 minutes from Brighton and runs an outdoor karting track with open practice sessions, sprint formats and GP-style racing.

This is the standout stag activity near Brighton if your group is competitive. Current karting options include 20-minute open practice from £45 per person, 30-minute open practice from £57 per person, and GP formats from £60 per person.

QLeisure also offers clay pigeon shooting, target shooting, axe throwing and archery, so you can combine two or three activities in one visit if the group wants a fuller day.

Paintball

South Coast Paintball is based just outside Brighton at the foot of the South Downs. It is a woodland site and welcomes stag and hen parties, individuals and corporate groups.

Paintball is a classic stag activity for a reason. It is competitive, easy to understand and better when nobody takes it too seriously. Book direct with the provider and check what is included, because paintballs, equipment and extras can change the final cost.

Brighton Zip

Brighton Zip is a 300-metre dual zip wire on the seafront. It runs above the beach and has two lines side by side, so you can race.

It is quick rather than a full afternoon activity, but it is a good way to start the day if the group wants something memorable before food and drinks.

Current standard single rider tickets are £22, with student and local resident tickets listed at £14 with valid ID. It is weather dependent, so check before you go.

Escape rooms

Pier Pressure has Brighton-themed escape rooms across its central Brighton sites, with rooms including Pavilion Perplex, Loot the Lanes, Raver Quest, Broken and Smuggler’s Secret.

Split the group into teams and compete on times. Sessions usually last about an hour, and current pricing is around £33 to £35 per person, plus a booking fee.

For the full comparison, see our escape rooms guide.

Bowling

Hollywood Bowl at Brighton Marina has 26 lanes, an arcade, diner and bar. It is not the most original stag activity, but it works for mixed groups and fills a couple of hours without much planning.

Free parking at the Marina also makes it easier if some of the group are driving.

See our bowling in Brighton guide for prices and deals.

Watersports

Brighton Watersports operates from the beach and offers paddleboarding, kayaking and lessons. It works best in summer and with a group that is happy to get wet.

This is not the cheapest option, but it can be one of the more memorable daytime activities if the weather is good. Trying to paddleboard with a hangover is its own kind of entertainment.

Laser tag

Laser Zone is on West Street, right in the centre. It is indoor, easy to fit into the day and works well for mixed fitness levels.

A single game currently costs £9.25 Monday to Thursday and £10.50 Friday to Sunday. Sessions are short, so you can book a multi-game option if you want it to feel like a proper activity rather than a quick stop.

GLOBALLS UV mini golf

GLOBALLS is glow-in-the-dark mini golf at Brighton Marina. It is less adrenaline-based than karting or paintball, but it works well as a warm-up activity before heading out in the evening.

Current prices start at £9.95 for adults for one game. It is indoors, so it is also useful if the weather turns.

See our mini golf guide for other options.

Where to eat

Group Of Male Friends Enjoying a Meal In a Restaurant

Large group bookings are one of the biggest challenges for a Brighton stag do. These places handle groups well and suit the vibe better than somewhere designed for date night.

Bohemia

Bohemia is on Meeting House Lane in The Lanes. Three floors, steaks, burgers, cocktails and a late lounge open until 1am midweek and 3am on Fridays and Saturdays. The Handcross sirloin steak with whisky peppercorn sauce is the standout, but there are also sharing boards, a luxury ribeye burger and a full Italian-leaning menu. It handles large parties across multiple seating areas and the evening naturally transitions from dinner into drinks without needing to move. One of the best stag dinner options in Brighton because you can eat, drink and stay in the same building all night.

The Crazy Goose

The Crazy Goose opened in February 2026 on Boyce’s Street, in the original Coal Shed site. It is a proper pub with elevated British comfort food: beef cheek and bone marrow pie, wagyu steak, rotisserie chicken and generous seafood dishes. Walk-ins are encouraged and there is no pressure to book, which suits stag groups that want to keep things flexible. Ground floor pub and a first-floor dining room called The Blue Room. Good Guinness.

Burger Brothers

Burger Brothers is on North Road in the North Laine. Short menu, halal beef, proper buns, no fries (get them elsewhere first). Previously voted best burger in Britain and still considered one of the best in Brighton. No bookings, no frills. Small venue, so works best for groups of six to eight. Cheap, fast and exactly what you want after an afternoon activity.

Mowgli

Mowgli on Ship Street does Indian street food designed for sharing. Tiffin boxes, curry bowls, chat bombs and smaller plates that work well when a group is ordering together. The portions are generous and the price point is reasonable. Handles groups and takes bookings. A different option from the usual stag dinner choices.

Pizza Pilgrims

Pizza Pilgrims on East Street does Neapolitan pizza in a casual, lively setting. Walk-in ground floor, bookings upstairs. Cheap, quick and handles groups without fuss. Good if the group wants something easy before a night out without spending too long at dinner.

Sports and watching the match

If the stag do falls on a match day, Brighton has plenty of pubs and bars showing live sport.

The best option depends on whether you want a proper sports bar setup, a pub atmosphere or somewhere central that can handle a large group.

See our sports bars guide for the full list of pubs showing football, rugby and other big events.

Evening and nightlife

Pub crawl

Brighton is walkable enough that you do not need an organised bar crawl. Pick an area and work through it.

The Lanes has the best cocktail bars. North Laine is more independent and relaxed. West Street is the mainstream strip. Kemptown is inclusive and community-led.

Start in The Lanes, then let the evening move naturally towards the seafront or West Street if the group wants a bigger finish.

Cocktail bars

Start the evening somewhere decent before the clubs.

Bohemia doubles as one of the best cocktail bars in The Lanes if you are already eating there. Clementine and Co on Duke Street is a smaller, more intimate cocktail bar near the seafront with creative seasonal drinks and table service. For something different, Dead Wax Social on Bond Street in North Laine is a vinyl and cocktail bar with a good craft beer selection and a more relaxed, music-led atmosphere.

See our best cocktail bars in Brighton guide for more options.

Nightclubs

The main options for a Brighton stag do are:

Pryzm

Pryzm on West Street is the biggest mainstream club in Brighton. It has multiple rooms, commercial music and VIP booths.

It is the obvious choice for a large group night out if you want something simple, central and late.

CHALK

CHALK is near the seafront and runs club nights, live events and student-friendly nights.

It is a good option if the group wants a busy central venue without going straight to West Street.

Patterns

Patterns is on Marine Parade and is better for groups that prefer electronic music, house, disco and more underground nights.

Check the listings before going because the programme changes depending on the night.

Quarters

Quarters is in the Kings Road Arches, in the former Zap and Arch space. It opened in 2025 and focuses on live music, electronic nights and a more music-led programme.

Worth checking if the group cares about what is actually on, rather than just finding any club that is open.

For the full breakdown, see our best nightclubs in Brighton guide.

Comedy

Komedia on Gardner Street hosts comedy, cabaret, music and club nights.

A comedy show before hitting the bars is a good way to structure the evening and gives the group something to talk about afterwards.

See our Brighton comedy clubs guide for more options.

Late-night food

You will probably need it.

West Street, St James’s Street and the seafront are the usual late-night areas for kebabs, burgers, pizza and chips. It is not glamorous, but it is useful after midnight when the group suddenly remembers food exists.

Where to stay

Hotel Pelirocco

Hotel Pelirocco is on Regency Square and is known for its quirky, themed rooms and rock and roll feel. It works well if the group wants something more memorable than a standard chain hotel.

The hotel also offers whole venue hire, which may be worth looking at for larger groups.

Leonardo Royal Hotel Brighton Waterfront

Leonardo Royal Hotel Brighton Waterfront is on the seafront and is close to The Lanes, Brighton Palace Pier and the main nightlife areas.

It is a strong mid-range option if location matters and you want the group to stay close to the centre.

Leonardo Hotel Brighton

Leonardo Hotel Brighton is next to Brighton railway station on Stroudley Road. It is more functional than exciting, but the location is useful if people are arriving by train.

Good if you want something practical and central without paying seafront prices.

Stag houses and apartments

Renting a house or large apartment can work well for stag groups. Everyone is together, the weekend feels more social, and it can be easier to split costs.

Search for central Brighton, Kemptown or Hove depending on the group’s plans. Book well ahead for summer weekends, and check house rules carefully. Some properties do not allow stag groups, parties or loud gatherings.

Practical tips

Book restaurants early

Brighton restaurants fill up on weekends, especially for large groups. Two weeks is a sensible minimum. Four weeks is better for popular places, private dining or summer Saturdays.

Stay central

Anywhere within walking distance of The Lanes, the seafront and West Street will make the weekend easier.

Kemptown, central Brighton, North Laine, The Lanes and the seafront are all practical. Staying too far east or west can turn a walkable weekend into a taxi-heavy one.

Getting here

The train from London Victoria to Brighton takes around an hour on average, with the fastest services slightly under that. London Bridge to Brighton is usually just over an hour.

If people are heading back the same night, check the last train before planning the evening.

Large groups in bars

Some smaller cocktail bars will not suit groups of 15 in matching T-shirts. Bigger pubs, clubs and West Street venues are more flexible.

Smaller, better bars work best for groups of around 6 to 8, especially if you book ahead and arrive before peak times.

Budget

A Brighton stag do can be done cheaply if you keep it simple: beach, pub crawl, casual food and budget accommodation.

Most groups will spend more once accommodation, one activity, dinner and a night out are included. A realistic one-night plan often lands around £100 to £180 per person, depending on hotel choices and how many paid activities you add.

Karting, shooting, private dining, VIP booths and seafront hotels will push the total higher.

FAQs

Is Brighton good for a stag do?

Yes. Brighton is compact, walkable, lively and easy to reach from London. It works for different budgets and group sizes, with beaches, pubs, clubs, restaurants and activities all close together.

How much does a Brighton stag do cost?

It depends on accommodation and activities. A simple one-night stag can be kept fairly affordable with casual food and a pub crawl. A more comfortable weekend with a paid activity, dinner, hotel and club entry is more likely to sit around £100 to £180 per person.

What is the best area to stay for a Brighton stag do?

Central Brighton, The Lanes, Kemptown, North Laine and the seafront are the easiest areas. They keep you close to bars, restaurants, clubs and the station.

Can you do a Brighton stag do in one day?

Yes, if everyone arrives early. A day stag works with an afternoon activity, dinner and a night out, but staying overnight is easier and gives you more flexibility.

When is the best time for a Brighton stag do?

May to September gives you the best chance of decent weather and a proper seafront feel. July and August are busiest, so book early. Winter still works if the plan is mainly food, pubs, clubs and indoor activities.

Do Brighton bars welcome stag groups?

Many do, but it depends on the venue and the group size. Larger pubs, clubs and West Street venues are usually more flexible. Smaller cocktail bars may not suit very large groups, so call ahead for groups of 10 or more.

Final thoughts

A Brighton stag do works because the city does a lot of the hard work for you. Activities, food, bars and clubs are all close together, so you can build a full weekend without spending half of it in taxis.

The best approach is to keep the plan simple: one proper daytime activity, a group-friendly dinner, a loose pub route and a final club or late-night option. Plan it yourself using local recommendations and you can usually get a better weekend than paying a package company to bundle it for you.
